A mesmerising dancer and a versatile actress! Here are some reasons why Madhuri Dixit Nene will always be your Dhak Dhak girl. These facts will have make your heart go Dhak Dhak all over again!

1) She has received six Filmfare Awards, four for Best Actress, one for Best Supporting Actress and one special award. She has been nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress a record fourteen times.

2) She was awarded the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, by the Government of India in 2008.

2) In 2001 Dixit won ₹ 5,000,000 on Kaun Banega Crorepati, a game show then in its first season on the air. She directed that her winnings be donated for the welfare of victims of an earthquake in Gujarat and to an orphanage in Pune.

3)  Dixit is a Goodwill Ambassador and a patron for "Emeralds for Elephants" — a charity project for the conservation of  Asian Elephants and other endangered species. This project has been designed to create awareness and raise vital funds for the protection of the critically endangered Asian Elephant. A collaborative project between the World Land Trust (a UK based nonprofit environmental organisation) and the Wildlife Trust of India that is creating protected wildlife corridors connecting National Parks and protected areas to others.

7) In the great Pandit Birju Maharaj’s words, “Madhuri is the best Bollywood dancer”. Madhuri has had the luck of being the only new-age Bollywood actress to have been choreographed by the legendary Kathak guru Pandit Birju Maharaj for the film Devdas. And to receive such a compliment from Panditji is an achievement in itself!

8) She received a degree in Microbiology and wanted to become a microbiologist or a pathologist.

9) In 2001, Madhuri's name was featured in the 'Top five most powerful Indian movie stars' by Forbes. She recieved Padma Shri award in 2008. The actress has also recieved 'Master Deenanath Vishesh' award and Raj Kapoor Special contribution award in 2012. She was also honoured with National Citizen's Award in 2001 and also  got waxed at the Madame Tassauds.
